The McCulloch County Library

Library Policies

Interlibrary Loan Policy

The Library will lend books from our collection to other libraries using the same rules that apply to our regular patrons, which are: 2 week checkout period and 10 cents a day overdue charge. Reference and Genealogy books are not checked out. Borrowing Libraries must send a mailing label and postage (stamps or check) to Richards Memorial Library before we will ship the book.  The Library must be able to verify that the Interlibrary Loan request is coming from a Library in the Texas State Library System and that the transaction is authorized by that Library.

Exceptions are: New Books - Books that have been in the Library for less than 6 months will not be checked out to other libraries;  We will not put holds on books for interlibrary loan patrons;  A book is considered to be returned to our Library by the postmark;  The borrowing library accepts responsibility for any checkout once it has been mailed;  The Library will not lend audio, or audiovisual materials.

Collections of Fines and Fees

The McCulloch County Library will enforce the collection of fines and fees on lost/damaged/past due items.  If any amount of money is owed on your account we will ask for payment at the time of checkout.  If you are unable to pay what is owed at that time we will allow you to check out your material and pay later.  If you are unable to make your payment on your first two visits, you will be expected to make that payment prior to checking out materials on your third visit.  If you are unable to pay, you are welcome to utilize materials within the library such as books, magazines and computers but will be restricted from checking out materials.  This process improvement was approved by Commissioners Court today and is designed to keep our library costs from increasing.  Thank you for your understanding and patronage.
